Greensleeves is supported by:
Wolf Creek Community Alliance
Beginning some two decades ago, concerned citizens gathered as the Wolf Creek Community Alliance to protect the creek running through the town of Grass Valley, California. Recently the organization, supported almost entirely by volunteers, received a generous donation and became a land steward, dedicated to protecting and restoring the Peterson Preserve, 58 riparian acres along the south fork of Wolf Creek. WCCA hopes to be the first of the local environmental stewardship groups to utilize Greensleeves teams for extensive mitigations at the Preserve.
Sierra Streams Institute
Sierra Streams Institute is a regional watershed science organization based in Nevada City, California, dedicated to increasing watershed stewardship capacity throughout the Sierra Nevada region and beyond. We work with local, state, and federal agencies as well as universities and community groups to find solutions to the problems that afflict Deer Creek, Bear River and other watersheds throughout the region that share the challenges resulting from a century and a half of gold mining, development, and agriculture. SSI’s emphasis on rigorous science and consistent data collection provides the basis for restoration decisions that are made on behalf of watersheds, and makes us an especially valuable partner of local, state and federal government agencies who lack the funding and capacity to gather their own data.
Training & Workforce Development
By working with established groups like WCCA, Greensleeves team members will have access to increasing their own knowledge and skill base by working with environmental experts in the field. Greensleeves crews will add momentum and synergy to the Sierra Nevada restoration economy by growing into a knowledgeable, capable, efficient and nimble workforce that extends restoration capacity for all.
Our Mission & Vision
The MISSION of Greensleeves is to HEAL THE LAND BY HAND:
We mean to accomplish this by hiring, training and fielding, a small, mobile team (and soon enough , teams) capable of performing fuel-reduction and ecological restoration treatments on public and private lands in the Sierra Nevada. Greensleeves will recruit from marginalized and under-served communities, often blocked from the traditional job market; such as people exiting homelessness, and/or re-entering the community after incarceration.
The VISION of Greensleeves is:

To support the long-term return to abundant ecological thriving in California, with reduced wildfire-risk, bio-diversity resurgence and native plant regeneration, led by indigenous ecological knowledge and fostered by returning the human hand to the land in a way that is regenerative, supporting the entire web of life, rather than careless, extractive or damaging to the web of relations that facilitate human thriving. Greensleeves will pursue workforce development that lifts the individuals out of poverty and grows the restoration economy locally and regionally.
