Greensleeves is supported by:
Wolf Creek Community Alliance
Beginning some two decades ago, concerned citizens gathered as the Wolf Creek Community Alliance to protect the creek running through the town of Grass Valley, California. Recently the organization, supported almost entirely by volunteers, received a generous donation and became a land steward, dedicated to protecting and restoring the Peterson Preserve, 58 riparian acres along the south fork of Wolf Creek. WCCA hopes to be the first of the local environmental stewardship groups to utilize Greensleeves teams for extensive mitigations at the Preserve.

Training & Workforce Development
By working with established groups like WCCA, Greensleeves team members will have access to increasing their own knowledge and skill base by working with environmental experts in the field. Greensleeves crews will add momentum and synergy to the Sierra Nevada restoration economy by growing into a knowledgeable, capable, efficient and nimble workforce that extends restoration capacity for all.
Our Vision
By engaging in this work we will increase carbon sequestration, bolster fire resilience and community safety, foster biodiversity, and create living wage jobs for people who need them most; jobs that directly address our climate crisis. We will recruit from marginalized communities; people experiencing homelessness, people re-entering the community after a prison term, or transitioning from job loss, or simply looking to re-train in the restoration field. Our model is deliberately non-hierarchical, utilizing a horizontal organizational structure and consensus process decision making to invite everyone to the table where each voice matters.
Part of our vision is to provide short-term housing to crew members whenever necessary and possible, collaborating with local hotels and motels, or campgrounds to assist crew members with transitioning out of homelessness and back into the community. We will seek to find a new way of working together that cultivates joy and prioritizes wholism; head, heart and body, even as we seek to reconnect with the more than human world around us.
Greensleeves will return the human hand to its rightful place on the land, stewarding, protecting and honoring the earth, air and water; renewing the web of life, to which we all belong.
